Two European acquisitions give WLF Energy proprietary battery-management software and battery-cell development capability — the intelligence layer of its vertically integrated platform, built in Europe, for Europe.
STUTTGART, Germany, 9 June 2026 — WLF Energy GmbH, the European clean-energy platform that made its public debut at Battery Show Europe in Stuttgart today, has integrated the Battery Management Systems (BMS) business unit of PEM Motion GmbH and the Cellovate Battery Production Lab (Cellovate GmbH) into its vertically integrated platform. Together, the two acquisitions give WLF Energy proprietary, European-developed battery-management capability and battery-cell development expertise — closing two of the most critical gaps in Europe’s energy-storage value chain.
WLF Energy is building the European answer to the integrated battery model that has, until now, been driven largely from outside Europe — one company that designs, builds, and operates the full system, from battery cell to grid. The battery-management and energy-management systems are the brains of every clean-energy asset, and Europe has long depended on others for them. With these two integrations, WLF Energy brings that intelligence in-house and onto European ground.
PEM Motion’s BMS business unit — developed within one of Europe’s most respected battery-engineering environments, spun out of PEM at RWTH Aachen University — brings years of expertise in the development, integration, and validation of advanced battery-management systems across the automotive, industrial, off-highway, and energy-storage sectors. As part of WLF Energy, that capability now powers the company’s own battery systems: a proprietary European BMS, not a bought-in component.
The Cellovate Battery Production Lab adds deep capability in battery-cell technology, production processes, and industrial scaling. Built to move new cell technologies from research into real production, Cellovate gives WLF Energy a direct path from cell development to market-ready storage products — shortening the distance between innovation and deployment.
“The energy transition will be won by the companies that own the full value chain — from cell to grid. Battery and energy-management systems are the intelligence of every clean-energy asset, and Europe cannot afford to depend on others for them. By integrating PEM Motion’s BMS business unit and the Cellovate Battery Production Lab, we are building that intelligence in Europe, for Europe — and strengthening the foundation of our vertically integrated platform.”
— Sebastian Wolf, CEO and Chairman, WLF Energy
“Battery and energy-management systems are the brains of every clean-energy asset. By acquiring and localising world-class BMS capability, WLF Energy is securing a sovereign, European foundation for the next generation of energy-storage systems.”
— Prof. Dr. Achim Kampker, PEM, RWTH Aachen University, and Supervisory Board Member, WLF Energy
With these acquisitions, WLF Energy now owns every layer of its platform — generation, battery storage, battery- and energy-management software, and AI-driven grid trading. That vertical integration is what lets WLF Energy strip out the integration risk, the margins, and the supply-chain dependencies that have kept clean energy expensive in Europe, in pursuit of a single goal: clean power below €0.10 per kilowatt-hour.
PEM Motion will continue as an independent technology partner — focusing on battery testing and compliance, battery analysis, engineering services, and training — and both companies share a commitment to advancing high-performance, sustainable battery systems in Europe.
WLF Energy is a global energy technology company building a fully integrated clean-energy platform that combines advanced battery technology, battery- and energy-management systems, artificial intelligence, digital optimisation, and energy trading into a single ecosystem. Its mission is to make sustainable energy affordable, resilient, and accessible — and to reduce the cost of clean electricity in Europe to below €0.10 per kilowatt-hour.
PEM Motion is a European battery-engineering company spun out of PEM at RWTH Aachen University, specialising in battery testing and compliance, battery analysis, engineering services, and training. Following the integration of its BMS business unit into WLF Energy, PEM Motion continues as an independent technology partner across the battery value chain.
